Victorian Edelweiss AMITIÉ Love Token Pendant bronze 20ct antique cushion cut principalDATE: Victorian, c. 1880 A lovely antique French love token pendant featuring a fine enamelled Edelweiss flower above the word Amiti. It's crafted in silver and dates from the latter half of the 19th Century, circa 1880. Edelweiss grows high up in the Alps where it survives in the harshest winter conditions, which is why it is associated with strength and toughness. In the Victorian language of the flowers it symbolised courage, bravery, and love.
